Objectives

  1. Differentiate between lymphedema and other types of edema
  2. Identify the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the lymphatic and venous systems and their relation to chronic edema and lymphedema
  3. Classify the various dermatological issues in lymphedema
  4. Develop an understanding of the components of decongestive lymphatic therapy
  5. Identify quality of life issues in patients with lymphedema
  6. Compare various compression garments that can be utilized for long-term management of edema or lymphedema
  7. Summarize the latest recommendations for complex lymphatic therapy based on evidence, expert review and consensus
  8. Demonstrate critical problem-solving skills to successfully treat patients with chronic edema, lymphedema and wounds
